There is never a dull moment at Atomhawk. Once stalled or in between projects, there are always amazing internal projects to work on. This one was based on concept art by the amazing Henry Lynch. For this one, the ask was coming up with a cool creature that could be done quickly to use as inspiration for the Atomhawk contest "Under Strange Suns". It started as a Zbrush sketch, I made it with an open mouth in order to be able to model the inside. The hi-poly was all done inside Zbrush and the low poly was done using z-remesher that was later refined by hand in Maya. Bakes and texture painting were both done in Substance Painter. The final render was done in Blender and a normal map version was created later to be used in Unreal engine. For this one I even did a rig and a control system inside Unreal. The initial blender pose was done in ZBrush using transpose master. The environment was done by my talented friend Rumen Toshkov. Thanks, Chris Rocks for being the coolest lead and Drew Whitmore for the art direction.
